Independent information
Smarter Policing is not a law-enforcement agency. An Agency-Based Project is independent unless its page clearly states that the agency has authorized or joined the project. A project page does not establish an official finding about an agency, employee, court, provider, or individual case.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is legal, medical, mental-health, financial, employment, public-records, security, or other professional advice. Laws, policies, orders, officials, deadlines, and services can change. Check current official sources and consult a qualified professional when a decision depends on them.
Facts, experience, and recommendations
We link sources for checkable claims where practical. Firsthand experience is identified as experience or perspective. Analysis and recommendations express a proposed direction and do not guarantee a particular result.
Public participation
Take action lawfully, safely, and on your own time. Do not use government equipment or accounts without authorization. Do not submit confidential, investigative, personnel, medical, victim, witness, security, or other nonpublic information. Self-reported action counts show reported participation; they are not independent verification that every action was completed exactly as described.
Third-party links
Links to government agencies, research, email providers, social networks, and other third parties are provided for convenience. Smarter Policing does not control their content, availability, privacy, accessibility, or security.
Corrections and removal
We may correct, revise, moderate, archive, or remove content to improve accuracy, protect privacy, comply with law, or maintain the integrity of a project. Use the contact form to request a correction or raise a concern.
